We are working on a tour to explore South-eastern France. The adventure will start in Lyon and continue through the Alps, Provence, the Riviera and the Rhône Valley, taking in extraordinary sights, the beauty of the countryside and the charm of French villages full of narrow streets, old stonework, small restaurants and good food. Timing: We suggest anytime from early June through late September. July and August are peak periods, with high temperatures, high season airfares and higher hotel prices. Some areas can also be very crowded. The weather in June and September is generally pleasant and a little cooler than in July and August. The roads and sites are much less crowded.
